We aim to be a real part of the local community and would be proud to help fund raise for local charities and can offer a function area free of charge to locals and groups.

The Maypole is your local, so whether you're up for a few drinks, dining out, enjoying a Sunday roast with family, catching up with friends, a spot of quizzing, a party, watching sport or just relaxing and taking the time to unwind, The Maypole is the pub to visit in Thaxted.

Vince & Leon x

Located in this historic and attractive market town, The Maypole is a traditional pub serving a great selection of real cask ales, lagers and spirits. We have a very large selection of gins, a cocktail menu and a wine list with wines sourced direct from the vineyards.
We serve traditional and delicious home cooked food.  It is always best to phone and book a table if you plan to dine with us.

We love to entertain and host various events including a regular pub quiz (with a difference) and music performers.
Check out our  Events or Facebook page for our forthcoming events.

Alongside all the great things inside, The Maypole has a beautiful courtyard garden perfect for a couple of cold beers on a summer's day, with a separate covered and comfortable areas (The Cosy & The Snug) to keep you dry.

Pop in for a drink and say hello - we look forward to meeting you!

Welcome to the Maypole Thaxted

We are delighted to announce that we have been named one of the best in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2023. The quality and taste of our cask ales is so important to us and we take great pride in getting it right.

It is so rewarding to us to have it recognised by CAMRA.

The Maypole Thaxted has been included in the 50th edition of CAMRA’s prestigious Good Beer Guide 2023, considered the definitive beer drinker’s guide to the very best pubs in the country.

Just 4,500 out of the nation’s 50,000 pubs are listed in the Guide, all of which undergo a rigorous selection process by local CAMRA volunteers to seek out and promote the finest outlets for real ale across the UK.

Nik Antona, CAMRA National Chairman adds: “This continues to be an incredibly difficult time for the pubs industry, as a cost of goods and living crisis follows hot on the heels of a two-year pandemic. Huge congratulations are in order for all the pubs listed in the Guide, which exemplify the very highest standards across the UK.
