Great nights out in Thaxted
We host regular entertainment events including Live Music on the first Saturday of the month, including some ticket only tribute acts. We hold a regular Quiz Night with a difference, hosted by our very own Ginny Tonic (see below). We like to help support local charities by holding fundraisers such as Drag Bingo – even on the odd occasion, Karaoke and Disco.

Ginny Tonic
Our very own Ginny Tonic is the alter ego of landlord Vince. Ginny is a fabulous diva with her own style, with a bit of singing and a wicked sense of innuendo style humour. Ginny lives by the mantra that ‘Quiz Nights are Fun Nights’ and our quizzes certainly are fun and very popular. We hold around six quizzes a year.
Ginny also occasionally hosts other special events, so keep an eye on our events pages.
A comprehensive service for your private and community functions
The Maypole is the ideal place to hire privately for your events - whether it’s a birthday, wedding, funeral wake, or any other type of event. It’s quick and easy to book, and often does NOT incur a hire fee. We can also offer you a comprehensive catering service - from canapés, buffets and sit-down meals, tailored to your needs at and agreed price point. A DJ service can also be provided in-house, including Disco and/or Karaoke.
